Our teachers are highly qualified and experienced professionals who are passionate about working with children. They undergo regular training to keep up-to-date with the latest teaching methods and practices, and are dedicated to providing the best possible care and education for each child.

What type of program do you offer?

This is a day program for adults ages 21 and older with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.  There is a skilled nursing staff for those who have medical needs. Program emphasizes daily living skills, pre-vocational training, socialization and recreation.

Do you offer transportation?

Yes, our vans pick up program participants every morning and transport them back home afterwards.  Transportation is offered within an approximate 25-mile radius of Nutley and to and from community activities.  

Are meals provided?

Yes, two hot meals are provided.  Breakfast and lunch are served during our morning session, lunch and dinner are served during our afternoon session.  

What type of activities are done at the program?

Activities include: daily exercise, shopping trips, cooking class, health and nutrition class, social skills training, computer skills, Cosmetology Club, volunteering at local food pantry and/or thrift shop, money math, telling time, journaling, bowling trips, music group, library trips, arts & crafts and sign language lessons.  Pls click here to see a sample schedule! 

Are there a certain number of days I must attend?

No, everyone’s schedule is individualized.  Many attend five days a week.  However, others attend a few days a week.  For those who work part-time, the day program can be a good supplement for non-working days.

How do I pay for this program?

This program is Medicaid-funded or paid privately.   Please click here for Eligibility information.  

What are the program hours?

The program runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  There is the option of staying after hours depending on individual circumstances.  The program is now offering expansion to an afternoon shift from 1:30-6:30 p.m.
